Abrams, Alexander "Alex", 69, of Northern Cambria, died November 29, 2004, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born August 10, 1935 in Spangler, son of James Abrams, Sr. and Frances (Malloy) Abrams-Young. Preceded in death by parents, step-father Robert Young, brothers William, James Jr., Joe, Vernon, sister Ruth Young and an infant sister. Survived by brother Bobbie K. Abrams, Northern Cambria; and sister Judy Ann Abrams, Hagerstown, MD. Also survived by several sisters-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews, and step-nieces and step-nephews. U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. Formerly employed at Barnes and Tucker #25 and #24B mines, both in Nicktown and Inland Steel. Most recently employed at North Barnesboro Cemetery. Member of UMWA Local 1269, Bakerton. Friends received from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, at Long-Contres Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria, where funeral service will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m., Pastor Joy Blackburn. Interment North Barnesboro Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by local Veterans organizations. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made, in memory of Alex, to The American Cancer Society, 351 Budfield St., Johnstown, PA 15904. A tree will be presented to the family in living memory of Mr. Abrams by Long-Contres.
