BUZA - Andrew, 88, Northern Cambria, died July 28, 2003, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Nov. 27, 1914, in Barnesboro, son of John and Anna A. (Szejud) Buza. Preceded in death by parents; stepmother, Ann; and sons Lt. Frederick A. Buza and Barry P. "Slug" Buza; granddaughter, Donna Buza; and these brothers and sisters, Edward, Joseph, Stephen, Michael, Louis, Paul, Daniel, Albert, George and Bernard Buza, Mary Harrington, Rose Metz, Anna Moskow and Helen Schaut. Last surviving member of immediate family. Survived by wife of 66 years, former Dorothy Miller and children, Rev. Darlene, married to Richard Wiewiora; Jeffrey, married to Jeannie (Dishong); Ricky, married to Kerry (Davis), all of Northern Cambria; and Kerri, married to Larry Mondi, Nicktown. Also survived by grandchildren, Gaelynn, Craig, Chad, Joy, Richard Jr., Nancy, Paula, Barry Jr., Andi, Michelle, Rayna, Ashlee and Drew and these stepgrandchildren, Jr., Christopher, Jed and Jody; 15 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Pat (Gallardo) Buza and Joan (Carnevali) Buza-Lamont; and friend, Tom. U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Received Purple Heart, Good Conduct and Victory medals, and EAME Theatre Service medal with three Bronze Stars. Lifetime coal miner who retired from Barnes and Tucker Coal 24B Mine, Nicktown. In earlier years, Mr. Buza worked for Ashcroft Bottling Works; was former owner of Buza's Restaurant; was a "Good Humor" Ice Cream bicycling vendor; constable for many years in Barnesboro; and Justice of the Peace in Barnesboro, having the privilege of marrying 13 couples. Self-employed electrician and also an electrical inspector. Former commander and steward of Post 343 VFW, Barnesboro. Member of American Legion of Barnesboro Post 508 for 59 years. He loved gardening, especially flowers, and loved feeding and watching birds. He loved his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, waiting for them to come visit every Sunday. Mr. Buza was frequently seen riding in his Rascal (buggy) around town and beyond. Lifelong resident of Barnesboro. Member of St. John's United Methodist Church. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Long-Contres Funeral Home Inc., Northern Cambria, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, the Rev. Joy Blackburn officiating. Interment, North Barnesboro Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by local veteran organizations. In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. John's United Methodist Church, 910 Chestnut Ave., Northern Cambria, Pa. 15714.
