Charles J. Suenkonis

Suenkonis, Charles J., 85 of Northern Cambria, died November 28, 2002, at Altoona Hospital. Born September 19, 1917 in South Fork, son of Martin and Mary Suenkonis. Preceded in death by parents, wife former Anne J. Myslevy, who died in 1984; infant daughter Kathleen; and brother Peter. Survived by children, Charlotte of Laurel, MD; Patricia of Arlington, VA; Charles Martin, of East Earl, PA; and Karen married to John Sedlock of Northern Cambria; and five grandchildren. Brother of Joseph of Binghamton, NY; Stanley of Northern Cambria; Ann Kowardy of Henderson, Nevada; Mary Fabian of Medina, OH; and Margaret Henry of Mineral Point. U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Former member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church and present member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Member of Barnesboro VFW. He was retired by Barnes and Tucker Coal Co., Number 25 mine, Bakerton. Friends received from 7-9 p.m. Friday at Long-Contres Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria, where funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday. Committal, St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Family requests memorial contributions be sent to Altoona Hospital, Palliative Care, Suite 620, Howard Ave., Altoona, PA 16601. A tree will be presented to the family in living memory of Mr. Suenkonis by Long-Contres Funeral Home.
