Clair Winings, Sr. Obituary

                Clair Robert Winings, Sr., 88 of St. Benedict passed away Friday, October 18, 2024, at The Villages of Maple Heights.

               He was born February 23, 1936, to the late Earl and Anna (Kanger) Winings. He married Elaine Risban on February 16, 1957.  She preceded him in death on April 21, 2022, also preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Winings.

               Surviving is five children, Germaine (Jeffry) Dillon of Northern Cambria, Clair Winings, Jr. of Carrolltown, Daniel (Nettie) Winings of Alverda, Susan Winings of Ebensburg, and Lori (Robert) Stermer of Hanover; thirteen grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

               He graduated from the Scotland School for Veterans Children.

              Clair was a coal miner for 25 years retiring in 1996 serving Bethlehem Mine #33 for 20 years, Williamson Shaft for 4 years and North American for 1 year.

              He enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. He loved feeding the birds and the bear that visited his home. He was a practical joker, and his son Daniel was his favorite target. He was the most loving man and will be greatly missed.

              Friends will be received Wednesday, October 23, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until the noon funeral service with Pastor Greg McDonald officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barrett Funeral Home, Northern Cambria.
