Clayton Donald Laney, 84 of Commodore passed away early Tuesday morning March 17, 2020 at home.
He was born July 15, 1935 in Green Township, a son to the late Jesse and Minnie (Clevenger) Laney. He married Betty Lou Keith on October 7, 1961.
Surviving are his wife Betty; five children, Peggy Laney, Clayton Donald Laney, Jr., Thomas Laney, Cindy (Laney) Mason, and Randy Laney; four grandchildren, Ronald “Pettie” Lydic, Kayla (Mason) Schrock, Zaneta Plavi, and Erica Mason; two great grandchildren, Aidan and Alexa Schrock; two sisters, Erma Jean Petry and Naomi Wanner and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashley Mason; a grandson, Kenneth J. Mason, Jr.; 10 siblings, Warren Harden Laney, Wilda Mae Bowser, Harry Jesse Laney, Florence Mildred Lute, Wilfred Ralph Laney, Lindy Lawrence Laney, Norman Ford Laney, Faye Vivian Kantz, Carl Elmer Laney, and Betty Marie Skelly.
Clayton served in the U. S. Army and retired from Bash Saw Mill after 20 plus years of service.
Clayton loved wood work, solar lights, yard work, working on his cars. He enjoyed hiking and being in the outdoors. He was an all-around great person who loved his family more than anything.
Friends will be received from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Barrett Funeral Home, 822 Philadelphia Ave., Northern Cambria, where a funeral service will take place at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Robert White Officiating.
