David C. Lee

Lee, David C., 76 of Cherry Tree, died July 24, 2003 at Indiana Regional Medical Center. Born December 31, 1926, in Valier, Jefferson Co., son of Leslie and Bertha (Bennett) Lee. Preceded in death by parents, wife of 25 years former Rose Ann Dunlap, brothers Guy and Donald Lee, sister Pearl Fishel, step-father Benjamin Shankle, and step-sister Margaretta Mullins. Survived by children, David C. "Pete" married to Lucy (Radzieta) of Curwensville, Susan E. Rainey, and Pamela G. Elling, both of Mahaffey, and Laurie A. married to Richard Burba of Cherry Tree. Also survived by grandchildren Bryan Lee; Beth & Evan Rainey; Jeremy Lee; Cory, Josh & Frank Elling; sister Mrs. John (Wilma) Rowles of Big Run, and numerous nieces and nephews. U.S. Army veteran of WWII, having served in the Phillippines. Retired from Conrail in Cherry Tree. Prior to that he was employed in the coal industry. After retirement, Mr. Lee along with his wife Rose Ann were the caretakers of the Citizens Cemetery in Cherry Tree. He was an avid gardener and woodworker. Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Long-Contres Funeral Home, Inc., Cherry Tree. Funeral service will be held at at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Cherry Tree Presbyterian Church. Interment Citizens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial contributions be made to Citizen's Cemetery Association c/o John Moyer, P.O. Box 86, Cherry Tree, PA 15724. A tree will be presented to the family in living memory of Mr. Lee by the funeral home.
