David Mehall Obituary
David D. Mehall, 82, of Hastings, PA, passed away April 15, 2026, at UPMC Shadyside.
Born May 10, 1943, in Spangler, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary Mehall. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Marianne (Hrubochak) Mehall; daughter, Keri A. (Denny) Marshall of Cherry Tree; and son, David J. (Amy) Mehall of Pittsburgh. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Agnes Yasick of Penn Run; grandchildren, Landon and Lydia Marshall, and Miles Mehall; brothers-in-law, John Hrubochak of Northern Cambria and James (Nora) Hrubochak of Hastings; sister-in-law, Joanne (Jay) Mortenson of St. Petersburg, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael, Ralph, and Tommy; his sister, Jane Kovach; and his sister-in-law, Dolores Hrubochak.
Dave graduated from Northern Cambria High School and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He spent more than 30 years teaching business courses at Cambria Heights High School before retiring. He attended Prince of Peace Catholic Church and was a member of the Slovak American Citizens Club of Northern Cambria.
A Corvette enthusiast, he loved taking friends and family for rides in his classic car. He was an excellent tennis player and a devoted fan of the game, and he also enjoyed cheering on Penn State football, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Boston Celtics. Above all, he loved watching his children and grandchildren grow up and compete in sports.
Friends will be received Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Barrett Funeral Home, 822 Philadelphia Ave., Northern Cambria. A funeral mass will be held Monday, April 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 811 Chestnut Ave., Northern Cambria with the Very Rev. Matthew Baum officiating. Committal will follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
