Donald O. Baum

BAUM - Donald O., 86, of Emeigh, died Feb. 17, 2004, at UPMC Lee Regional hospital, Johnstown. Born April 13, 1917, in Akron, Ohio, son of Murrell and Hannah (Leamer) Baum. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Leroy; and sisters, Catherine Burkhart, Irene Ramsey and Marjorie Baum. Survived by wife of 63 years, former Charlotte Riddle; and children: Donald E. and wife, Shirley (Pearce), Northern Cambria; Larry J., Patton; and David, Northern Cambria; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Brother of Lynn Baum, Hastings; Imogene Mantini, Clymer; and Helen Louise Boyajian, Erie. Retired coal miner from Eastern Gas and Fuel of Colver with 43 1/2 years of service. Member of UMWA, Local 860, Colver. Devoted husband and father. Don was a motorcycle enthusiast. He loved camping and loved to work on small engines. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Long-Contres Funeral Home Inc., Northern Cambria, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Paul Jacobsen officiating. Interment, Mount Zion Cemetery, Mahaffey R.D. In lieu of flowers family requests that memorial contributions be sent to American Cancer Society, 351 Budfield St., Johnstown, Pa. 15904.
