Elizabeth D. Thorpe

Thorpe, Elizabeth D., 73 of New Cumberland, formerly of Burnside, died July 24, 2003 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born March 18, 1930, in Cherry Tree, daughter of Randall and Helen (Wilson) Dunlap. Preceded in death by parents, brother Samuel A. Dunlap, 3 infant brothers, sister Rose Ann Lee and her husband David C. Lee.. Survived by daughter, Rebbecca married to John La Rosa of Etters, PA. Also survived by grandchildren Adam, Michael and Jessica La Rosa; brother, James C. Dunlap of Yuba City, CA and sisters, Josephine married to Henry Albert of Mechanicsburg, and Jean married to John Speer of Spring Church, and numerous nieces and nephews. Graduate of Penn State University. Formerly employed at Ashley's Children's Shop in Harrisburg. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. Friends received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Long-Contres Funeral Home, Inc., Cherry Tree. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Cherry Tree Presbyterian Church, Rev. Daniel Little. Interment Citizens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the PA Association of the Blind, 90 East Shady Lane, Enola, PA 17025. A tree will be presented to the family in living memory of Mrs. Thorpe by the funeral home.
