CHERVENAK - Ethel L., 90, Northern Cambria, died Nov. 3, 2004, at Miners Medical Center, Hastings. Born April 18, 1914, in Lanes Mills, daughter of Matthew and Mary (Bezilla) Fabian. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, John, Louis and Victor; and sisters, Elizabeth and Genevieve Fabian; Betty Cullinan and Mary Parana. Survived by beloved husband of 63 years, Michael S. Beloved mother of Richard E. of Springfield, Va.; Michael and wife, Marcia, Rockville, Md.; Dennis and wife, Midge, Cranberry Township; Marilou and husband, Gerald Nowak, Gaithersburg, Md.; Joseph and wife, Faith (Gross), Denver, Colo.; Father Gregory, O.F.M., Cap., Wheeling, W.Va.; M. Francesca, Pittsburgh; Ethel Marie and husband, Anthony Novogradac, Pittsburgh; as well as 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous extended family members. Last surviving member of the Fabian family. Ethel was a homemaker and worked as a teacher's aide for the Northern Cambria School District. She loved music and was an organist for St. John the Baptist (now Prince of Peace) Roman Catholic Church for many years. Ethel was an avid reader, loved to crochet, and enjoyed playing cards and board games with her family and friends. She was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society and an active volunteer at her church. Friends were received Thursday and and will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Long-Contres Funeral Home Inc., Northern Cambria, where Altar & Rosary Society service will be held at 3 p.m. and vigil service will be held Friday evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Church. Committal at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association or charity of your choice.
