Ethel Johnson-Norton

Norton, Ethel Johnson, 85 of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Barnesboro, died June 19, 2003 at her Barnesboro home. Born August 8, 1917, in Susquehanna Twp., daughter of Harry and Elizabeth (Marsh) Shortencarrier. Preceded in death by parents, 1st husband Robert Johnson in 1967 and 2nd husband Richard Norton in 1980 ; brothers Earl, Ralph, William, and Leo Shortencarrier and sister Mary Margaret Wiles. Survived by children, Robert Jr. married to Ruth (Kirkpatrick) of Somerset, and William R. married to Rita (Kibler) of Sarasota, FL; grandchildren Robert III, Kirk, Jeanine, William, Douglas and David Johnson; and great-grandchildren Alysia and Kevin Johnson. Also survived by sister, Betty Lou Westwood of Northern Cambria, sister-in-law Catherine Shortencarrier of Northern Cambria, and brother-in-law Richard Wiles of Sharon, PA, and several nieces and nephews. Retired school teacher from Northern Cambria School District. Member of PA Retired Teachers Association. Former member of St. Edwards Catholic Church, present member of St. Martha's Church in Sarasota. Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, at Long-Contres Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria, where vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., Monday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Committal at Holy Cross Cemetery.
