Nastasi, Eugene S., 85 of Northern Cambria, died August 20, 2005 at Miners Medical Center, Hastings. Born July 11, 1920, in Barnesboro, son of Joseph and Nancy (Grillo) Nastasi. Preceded in death by parents, brothers Anthony and Mike, and sisters Jackie Rivasa and Mary Dumm. Last surviving member of immediate family. Survived by wife of 59 years, former Ann Sgro; sons Joseph married to Rena (Miller), Woodbury; and Anthony of Ebensburg; grandchildren Danielle, Joseph, A.J., David, and Nicole Nastasi; and great-grandchildren Dominic Danti Dodson and Joseph Nastasi, III. U.S. Marine Corps. Veteran of WWII. Owner for 20 years of Nastasi's Mobil Service Station, Ebensburg. Former member, Eucharistic Minister, & Usher, of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Present member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. One of the founding members of Knights of Columbus Council # 2277, Barnesboro. Past Faithful Navigator of Prince Gallitzen Assembly. Helped to establish the Alhambra Cambril Caravan #240, Barnesboro. Member of Barnesboro VFW and American Legion. Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Long-Contres Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria, where Altar and Rosary service will be held at 3:00 p.m. followed by Vigil for the Deceased and Knights of Columbus service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Committal at Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown. Military rites will be conducted by local veterans organizations.
