Evelyn Hicks

Hicks, Evelyn, 87 of Northern Cambria, died April 24, 2005 at Fair Oaks Assisted Living Center, Pittsburgh. Born March 15, 1918, in Barnesboro, daughter of John and Suzanne (Patrick) Singel. Preceded in death by parents, husband Alexander "Doc", Jr. in 1988, 1 brother and 9 sisters. Survived by daughters Connie and husband Manuel, Fairfax, VA; and Sandra Saghy, Pittsburgh; grandchildren Eric Alexander and Leigh Ann Valdez, Mark and Michael Saghy, and Carrie Anne Kilbane; and great-grandchildren Alexander and Savannah Valdez, Victoria Rhodes, and Robert and Alyssa Saghy. Also survived by sisters Veronica Dickens, Dallas, TX; and Dorothy Skupien, Chicago, IL. Retired secretary for PennDot. Member of former St. Edward's Catholic Church. Friends received 7-9 p.m. Friday at Long-Contres Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria, where vigil for deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Prince of Peace Catholic Chapel. Committal at North Barnesboro Cemetery.
