Helen Hamady Drotar, 92, of Northern Cambria passed away peacefully on March 14, 2019. She was the beloved wife of the late Francis T. Drotar; mother of Francis (Carol Borsock) of Dauphin, Denise (Robert) Rebuck of Sunbury, and Mary Ellen (John) Glass of Ashburn, VA; grandmother of Gregory (Kathy) Drotar, Amy Drotar, Andrew Drotar, Benjamin (Krista) Rebuck, Lindsey (Marck) Rebuck, Donald Glass, Jacqueline (Daniel) Neighbors, and Alexa Glass; and great-grandmother of Nicholas , Carlos, and Elijah. Helen is preceded in death by her husband; parents, George and Julia Hamady; and brothers, John, George, Albert, Steve, and Joe. She is survived by her sister-in-laws, Mary Hamady, Elsie Hamady, and Marge Hamady.
Helen was born on July 5, 1926, in Emeigh, PA. She will be remembered as a loving mother to her children and a faithful servant to her church, Saint John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Northern Cambria. She worked at the Barnesboro Shirt Factory before marrying her husband Francis and devoting her life to her family in Barnesboro. Helen will be known for her cookie baking, and being the neighborhood mom when her children were younger. She spent the final years of her life at Amber Springs at Laurel Wood in Johnstown.
Friends will be received Sunday March 17, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Barrett Funeral Home 822 Philadelphia Ave., Northern Cambria, where Panachida will be recited 9:30 a.m. Monday March 18, 2019 at Mass of Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church. Committal at St John Byzantine Cemetery.
