Helen (Melnyk) Kolasa

                Helen (Melnyk) Kolasa, 96 of Northern Cambria, passed away Friday July 3, 2020 at Haida Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Hastings.

                She was born October 15, 1923, a daughter to the late John and Mary Melnyk of Colver. She lost her mother at a very young age and became the daughter of the late Catherine Melnyk. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Kolasa, Sr.; a daughter Carole Kolasa; brother, Harry Melnyk and a sister, Ann (Joe) Yamerick.

                She is survived by her son, John (Linda) Kolasa; grandchildren, Katy Kolasa, John (Julie) Kolasa, and Caroline (John) Hightower; great grandchildren, Miles Kolasa, Alexandra and John Hightower; two sisters, Irene (Joseph) Leahey, Mary Catherine (Bob) Swatsworth; a sister in law, Rose Melnyk and many nieces and nephews.

                Helen was employed by Barnesboro Shirt Factory for 60 plus years. She spent her life being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her favorite past time was cooking many delicious ethnic foods for her family.

              The family wants to extend a special thanks to all of the workers at Haida Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. A private service will take place at the convenience of the family.
