James F. Tibbott

Tibbott, James F., 71 of Northern Cambria, died May 13, 2003 at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born December 26, 1931, in Punxsutawney, son of Maurice and Sara (Ashcroft) Tibbott. Preceded in death by parents, 1st wife former Anna Mae Fryer in 1973, and daughter Susan Marie Tibbott. Survived by 2nd wife, former Mary Ellen Wyland, and children, James D. married to Diane (Kopera) of Northern Cambria, Ann married to Lee Hanwell of Cherry Tree, Deborah L. and (Alan Hanwell), W. Brian married to Joy (Wiewiora), James J. married to Paula (Tomallo), and Timothy G. married to Teresa (Lowe), all of Northern Cambria. Also survived by grandchildren Lance Corporal Justin J., U.S.M.C., Christine D., Jenna S., Hannah E. and Sarah R. Tibbott, great-granddaughter Lynnette M. Tibbott, brother William of Northern Cambria, and aunt Edythe Weakland of Northern Cambria. U.S. Marine Corp. Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Retired Postmaster for Barnesboro Post Office. Member of Barnesboro Legion Post 508; Barnesboro VFW and Slovak Club; Polish Legion; current treasurer, former fire chief, member and past president of Hope Fire Co., past president of Cambria County Fire Assoc.; past president of Central District Fire Assoc.; past member Western PA fireman Assoc. and State fireman Assoc.; member of Barnesboro Alumni Assoc.; was active in Northern Cambria Transition Committee, and co-chairman of Centennial Committee. Friends received from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Long-Contres Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria, where funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Rev. Darlene Wiewiora. Military graveside rites will be conducted at the funeral home by local veterans organizations. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials be sent to the Civic Committee of Northern Cambria Borough, 1202 Philadelphia Avenue, Northern Cambria, PA 15714.
