John A. "Yush" Ciezobka

CIEZOBKA - John A. "Yush," 77, of Northern Cambria, died July 9, 2004, at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born April 30, 1927, in Cymbria, son of Andrew and Eleanor (Domalik) Ciezobka. Preceded in death by parents; son, John Jr.; brothers, Andrew and Joseph; and sisters, Mary Rogal, Helen Fedoryszyn, Irene Goscinski and Eleanor Hnatkowicz. Survived by wife of 55 years, former Elizabeth Jean "Betty" Bernecky, and children, Sr. Johnna of Kingstree, S.C., and David, married to Josephine (Kuzar) of Carrolltown. Also grandchildren, Mark, David and Christa Ciezobka and Brenda Pierce, and great-grandchild, Tyler Pierce. Brother of Frances Mazor of Northern Cambria. U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Retired coal miner from Barnes and Tucker Coal Co., No. 24D mine, Nicktown. Member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Hastings Fire Club and Hastings VFW. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Long-Contres Funeral Home Inc., Northern Cambria, where Altar and Rosary Society will recite the Rosary at 3 p.m., followed by vigil for the deceased. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with committal at St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery.
