John David Hoover, Sr., 71 of Commodore passed away Friday, July 31, 2020.
He was born March 10, 1949 in Indiana, a son of the late John and Erma (Lawson) Hoover. He married Leona R. Furman on January 17, 1998.
Surviving are his wife Leona, three children, Sally (Brian) Fleming, John Hoover, Jr., and James (Janet) Hoover; ten grandchildren, Dalton Felton, Chris, Ryan, Josephine, Angela, and Betty Campbell, Cody, Savannah, and McKayla Hoover, and Angel Bishop; one great grandchild, Athena Allen; a brother in law, Leonard “Buddy Boy” Sharon; and his puppy pal Buddy.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Sharon.
John was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving in the Vietnam War.
He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, the National Rifle Association and was a member of the Carrolltown Legion Post 506. John enjoyed woodworking and loved his motorcycles.
Friends will be received Tuesday, August 4, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday August 5, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Barrett Funeral Home, 822 Philadelphia Ave., Northern Cambria, where a funeral service will take place Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Richard Ulery officiating. Committal will take place Cookport Methodist Cemetery.
