John J. Kolasa, Jr., 71 passed away peacefully with his wife, daughter, and son by his side. John was born in Colver to now deceased parents, John and Helen (Melnyk) Kolasa, Sr. Also preceded in death by his sister, Carole and in-laws Leo and Catherine Shortencarrier.
Survived by his loving wife of 48 years Linda (Shortencarrier) Kolasa, daughter, Katy (his “sweet little good girl”), son John III, son-in-law Keith Percy, daughter- in-law, Julie (Bobik), precious grandson, Miles and his cherished kitties.
John graduated from Bishop Carroll High School and served our country in the U.S. Army. He worked as a union coal miner for almost 20 years. John loved spending time with his family, was a classic car enthusiast and spent countless hours working in his garage.
John’s remarkable strength and perseverance through many years of painful illnesses have been an inspiration to all who knew and loved him. He will be dearly missed but his family finds comfort in knowing that his pain is gone, and he can rest peacefully. This man was truly THE BEST!
The family expresses sincere gratitude for all the love, support, and prayers that they have received over the years.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Barrett Funeral Home, 822 Philadelphia Ave., Northern Cambria, with Rev. Martha Cartmell officiating.
