RUTKA - Leonard "Slim" "Tiny," 82, of Northern Cambria, died April 3, 2005, at Beverly Health Care Haida Manor, Hastings. Born Jan. 4, 1923, in Carrolltown, son of Michael and Michaelina (Koscinski) Rutka. Preceded in death by parents, wife, the former Mary Sedlock, July 16, 1991; son, Leonard (Gene); granddaughter, Stephannie Lyne Rutka; sons-in-laws, Ken "Tex" Weakland and William Pebley; infant siblings, Eugene, Clementine and Edward; and siblings, Lucy Balgorsky and Cornelia, Martha and Regina Rutka. Survived by children, Michele Weakland, and fiance, Ken Miller, Northern Cambria; Denise, married to Jeff Monroe, McMurray; Jerry, married to Shirl (Hendrick) Washington, Pa.; and best friends, Sue and Daryl Stoltz and family. Also grandchildren, Ashleigh Rutka, Washington, Pa., and Jackie, married to Mike Cavallo, Northern Cambria; and stepgrandchildren, Brian Pebley, White Oak; Melody Pebley, Pittsburgh; and Bill, and wife, Kim Pebley, Erie. Brother of Sophia Zygmont, St. Benedict; Cecilia (Honey) Kerchenske, Carrolltown; and Edmund, and wife, Deanna (Miceli), Ebensburg. U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Retired from Barnes and Tucker Coal Co. and PennDOT. Member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Carrolltown VFW, American Legion and Polish Legion of Northern Cambria. At Leonard's request, there will be no public visitation. Friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at Prince of Peace Chapel. Committal, St. Benedict Church Cemetery, Carrolltown. Military rites will be conducted by local veteran's organizations. Family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Seraphic Mass Association, 3600 Butler St., Pittsburgh, Pa. 15201.
