Leroy T. Schilling

Schilling, Leroy T., 76 of Northern Cambria, died November 24, 2003 at Miners Medical Center, Hastings. Born September 13, 1927, in Bakerton, son of John and Eva (McFeeley) Schilling. Preceded in death by parents, brothers John, Paul, and Ken; and sisters Regina Robb, Imelda Schilling, and Imogene DuPuis. Survived by wife of 49 years, former Rose Bonatesta, and son Bernie, at home. Brother of, William of Silver Springs, MD; Phyllis Peles of Glen Campbell; Kathryn Zakuziya of Johnstown; and Patricia Scally of Manassas, VA. 1947 graduate of Carrolltown High School. U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII. Retired office manager for Hershey Creamery, Altoona. Most recently employed with Tri-County Transportation. Member of former Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, where he was active in various church activities. Past Commander and Quartermaster of Barnesboro VFW. Member of Barnesboro Slovak Club. Former member and President of Barnesboro Boro Council. Friends received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Long-Contres Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria, where Vigil for the deceased will be held, with Altar and Rosary service at 3:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, where Military rites will be conducted by local veterans organizations. Interment Mt. Carmel Cemetery. A tree will be presented to the family in living memory of Mr. Schilling by the funeral home.
