Westwood, Lloyd G. "Tootie", 74 of Northern Cambria, died April 2, 2003 at Miners Medical Center, Hastings. Born February 19, 1929, in Altoona, son of Lloyd and Leona (Matley) Westwood. Preceded in death by parents, sisters Vivian Bacha, Arlie Bacha, Caroline Sample, and Betty Mullen. Survived by wife of 53 years, former Betty Lou Shortencarrier, children, Dennis married to former Linda Barckly of Upper St. Clair, and Donna Westwood Persio married to Gasper of Northern Cambria, and grandchildren Darren and Carolyn Westwood, and Lauren and Arlie Persio. Also survived by brother Francis married to Mary (Gelormino) of Phoenix, AZ, and Aunt Anna Mae Wilson of Patton. Mr. Westwood was a retired licensed funeral director who managed the daily operations of the Bacha Funeral Home from the 1950's to the 1970's. He was a school bus owner/contractor for Northern Cambria School District for many years. He was also a long-time owner and developer of real estate in Barnesboro. Member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Member of Civilian Conservation Corp.; life member and former chief of Hope Volunteer Fire Company; Director of the Civil Defense; and former officer of the Area Developers Association. He was a familiar figure in the Borough of Barnesboro where he was active in community affairs. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and longtime supporter of the National Rifle Association. Mr. Westwood's most honorable and proud position was that of husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time and taking care of his family. Friends received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Long-Contres Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria, where Vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon Saturday at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Committal at Holy Cross Cemetery.
