Mary Rocco

Rocco, Mary M., 66 of Barnesboro, died July 4, 2002 at Altoona Hospital. Born November 29, 1935, in Spangler, daughter of Joseph and Martha (Plaucha) Lamagna. Preceded in death by father, infant grandson Thomas Rocco, Jr., and father-in-law Joseph Rocco. Survived by mother, husband of 45 years Samuel, and children: James married to Yvonne (Magulick), and Thomas married to Susan (Sabella), both of Barnesboro, Robert married to Mary Jane (Kline) of Phillipsburg, and Richard married to Jacquiline (Centini) of Dillsburg. Mrs. Rocco will be sorely missed by her grandchildren: Christina, Rebecca, Mary Beth, Ariel, Jessica, Shelby, Sammantha, Joseph, Michael, Anthony, Bradley, Christopher, and Jesse. Also survived by a sister Sally Lenglet of Indiana, and mother-in-law Virginia Rocco. A 1953 graduate of Barnesboro High School, graduate of Altoona School of Nursing as RN. Formerly employed by Shady Side and Miners Hospital. Nursing instructor for Indiana Area Vo-Tech and substitute school nurse for Northern Cambria H.S. Was certified State Health Officer in Barnesboro/Spangler Boroughs. Served as Eucharistic Minister and religious instructor at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish. Former member of Barnesboro Borough Council. Secretary/Treasurer of Barnesboro Municipal Authority who kept Barnes Memorial Swimming Pool open by her sheer will and determination. Friends received from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Sunday at Long-Contres Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria where Vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Prince of Peace Chapel. Committal at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Track/Sports Complex, c/o Elaine Bonanno, Central Bank, 613 W. High St., Ebensburg, PA 15931. Donations will be divided between Northern Cambria Track and the Barnes Swimming Pool in her honor.
