Mary C. Strollo

Strollo, Mary C., 99 of Northern Cambria, died December 19, 2004 at her daughter's home in San Diego, CA. Born December 4, 1905 in Hranovica, Czechoslovakia, daughter of George and Mary (Uhrin) Lacsny. Preceded in death by parents, husband Anthony, daughter Mary O'Brien, Sisters Catherine, Sister M. Leona, and Jenny Lacsny; and brother George Lacsny. Survived by children Joanne Cromo, Industry; Beatrice Virgilio, San Diego, CA; and Antonia Kelly, Newport News, VA. Also survived by 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; and Brother Francis Lacsny. Retired librarian, after 30 years, from Barnesboro Public Library, where she was a member of the board of trustees. Former member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Mary was a county-wide Regent of the Catholic Daughters of America; past president of the American Legion Auxiliary; past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary; member of the Sisters in S.F.O.; and active member of the Women's Republican Party; also for many years she was a board member of the Senior Citizens of Northern Cambria. Friends received from 9:00 to 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, January 5, at Long-Contres Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria, followed by funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Committal Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial contributions be made to Northern Cambria Public Library, 1030 Philadelphia Avenue, Northern Cambria, PA 15714. A tree will be presented to the family in living memory of Mrs. Strollo by Long-Contres.
