Mary Catherine (Marino) Shortencarrier

Shortencarrier, Mary  Catherine 87 Northern Cambria, passed away November 14, 2016 at Hillsdale Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born October 23, 1929 in Barnesboro, daughter of  James and Vita (Caruana) Marino. Preceded in death by parents, beloved husband Leo F. who died in 1998, son Harry, brothers Anthony, James, Thomas and Charles and sisters Rose Catalano, Sarah Rauch and Josephine Sedlock and son-in-law Rick Magulick. Survived by daughters, Cathy Magulick, Linda (John) Kolasa and Lea (Tim) Born all of Northern Cambria. Grandchildren, Melissa (Ken) Kudlawiec, Rick (Amanda) Magulick, Katy Kolasa, Stacy  (Todd) Kucenic, John (Julie) Kolasa, Leo Magulick,  Nycole,Timmy and Liza Born and great-grandchildren Mary Kate Kudlawiec, Kayden, Kendall, Kylee and Kruz Magulick and Kenley, Courtney and Ryan Kucenic and  brother  Frank of Michigan. Also many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.  Member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Catherine was known as the "Shoe Store Lady". She started working at the age of 12 at the local shoe store and worked there  for 60 years and in that time became the owner and operator  of Paul's Shoe Store. Catherine loved  her town and community. She loved cooking for her family and loved spending time with them. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Long-Contres Funeral Home Inc., Northern Cambria where vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 11:00 a.m. Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Committal Holy Cross Cemetery.
