Michael Basile

Basile, Michael, 88 of Country Meadows Nursing Home, Bridgeville, formerly of Barnesboro, died January 17, 2003 at the nursing home. Born August 25, 1914, in Barnesboro, son of John and Elizabeth (Lovecchio) Basile. Preceded in death by parents, wife, former Margaret Matarrese in 1999, brother Martin and sister Anne Basile. Survived by children, Elizabeth "Bette" Koriwchak of McMurray, and Paula married to Richard Deems of Bulger, grandchildren Dr. Michael Koriwchak and Krislyn Deems, and grandchildren Andrew and Margaret Koriwchak. Brother of Joseph of Northern Cambria, and Anthony of Cecil. Retired from B & T Coal Co. Also retired part-time policeman for Barnesboro. Former member of former Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Fraternal Order of Police, Sons of Italy, and Knights of Columbus. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener and rosary maker. Friends received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Long-Contres Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria, where Vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Prince of Peace Church. Committal at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
