Michael L. Sowalla

SOWALLA - Michael L., 61, Shepherd Road, Cherry Tree, died Feb. 16, 2004, at Miners Medical Center, Hastings. Born Feb. 7, 1943, in Spangler, son of the late Michael and Mary Ann (Prosky) Sowalla. Survived by wife, former Nancy Mondi, and children, Michael, and wife, Brenda (Noble), Cherry Tree; Lori, married to Frank Carruba, San Diego, Calif.; and Justine Fether, and fiance, Bruce Mason, Vintondale. Also grandchildren, Heather, Kayla and Michael Sowalla; Kathryn, Dominic and Angelo Carruba; and Samantha, Gabrielle and Derek Fether. Also survived by brother, Monty, and wife, Karen (Gray), Cherry Tree, and mother-in-law, Bernice Mondi, Northern Cambria. Former self-employed construction worker. Member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Long-Contres Funeral Home Inc., Northern Cambria, where vigil for the deceased will be held, and where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Committal at North Barnesboro Cemetery. Family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be sent to Lee Regional Hospice, 117 Work Drive, Johnstown, Pa. 15904.
