Ralph C. Brant

Brant Ralph C. 86, of Northern Cambria, died September 6, 2003 at Haida Manor, Hastings. Born October 22, 1916 in Barnesboro, son of Charles and Anna (Shingler) Brant. Preceded in death by parents, wife former Elizabeth (Pivovarnik) in 2002, a sister Mary Louise Gadzala, twin grandsons and a step grandson. Survived by children: Carol Ann and husband George Sabella of Northern Cambria; and Gerald and wife former Chris (Hanlon-Irwin) of Patton. Also a step granddaughter Jessica Irwin and a step gr. Grandson Tristin Irwin. Brother of Cecelia Campbell of Northern Cambria and sister in law Anna Bacha of Northern Cambria. Retired from Barnes & Tucker Coal Co. #24D, Nicktown. Co-founder of former Barnesboro Distributing Co.; Former Barnesboro Boro Street and Water Commissioner and Police Officer. Former Boy Scout Master. Former member of Barnesboro Lions Club and Cambril Caravan #240 Alhambra. Past member and Board Vice President at Miners Hospital. Formerly employed at Sterling Coal Co., Bakerton. Member, Past officer and delegate of Bakerton Local #1269, UMWA. Life member, 4th degree member and past Grand Knight of Barnesboro Council # 2277 Knights of Columbus. President of Jednota Branch #207 1st Catholic Slovak Union. Member and usher for 60 years of former St. John's Slovak and Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Member Barnesboro American Legion, member and officer for 25 years of Barnesboro Slovak Club. Member of Bakerton Athletic Club and VFW. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Long-Contres Funeral Home, Inc. Northern Cambria where vigil for the deceased will be held, and Altar and rosary service at 3:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with committal at St. John the Baptist R.C. Cemetery.
