Ronald John Kazmer

Ronald John Kazmer, 72, recently of Tallahassee, Florida, died on September 26, 2018. He is deeply missed by his loving wife of 50 years, Jane Donner Kazmer; his daughter, Michelle Kazmer (husband Paul Marty); and two grandsons, Evan and John Marty.

Ron was born on July 6, 1946, in Spangler, PA, and grew up in Barnesboro, PA. He graduated from Bishop Carroll High School; from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a BS in Chemistry Education; and from Bowling Green State University with a MA in Chemistry.

Ron taught chemistry spectacularly and joyously at Trinity High School in Washington, PA, for 25 years. Ron had Multiple Sclerosis; he loved teaching high school chemistry and would have taught for many more years, had the Multiple Sclerosis not decided differently. He adored life and his wife very much; they traveled far and wide together, enjoying trips to Alaska, Hawaii, the Mediterranean, a train trek through the Canadian Rockies, and a 6-week road trip across the USA.

Ron was a huge music fan and particularly loved the work of Bob Dylan, who he saw perform live in concert many times. He also was an avid cinema buff, watching thousands of great movies at home (on VHS, then DVD, then streaming) and in theatres. Ron was a lifelong swimmer and regularly swam laps at the “old” YMCA and then at the Cameron Wellness Center in Washington. He enjoyed many great games of poker with friends. In very recent years he developed an affinity for youth musical theatre, as an avid regular attendee of his grandsons’ frequent performances and showcases. Mostly, though, he loved spending time with the love of his life, his wife, Jane.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary (Yurovak) Kazmer, and his sister, Kathryn Matava.
