Rose Jean McDonnell, 99 went home to be with the Lord early Friday morning, January 9, 2026.
Born June 12, 1926, in New Kensington, a daughter to the late Dee T. and Viva (Lingenfelter) Niel.
Preceded in death by, her first husband, Eldon “Buddy” Delbert Gardner; her second husband, Neil McDonnell; son Gordon McDonnell, daughter, Janine McCoy; brother, Wesley Walker; sister, Barbara Barlett; son-in-law, Lawrence Barrett; and granddaughter, Maleah Lashinsky.
Surviving are children, Priscilla Barrett of North Carolina; son, Delbert (Linda) Gardner of Pine Flats; daughter, Brenda (William) Clement of Punxsutawney; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Judy McDonnell and son-in-law, Marvin McCoy.
Rose retired as a nurse aide after many years of service. She was a very active member of Hope Spring Church, Northern Cambria and Missions Around the World, where she attended bible study and helped with summer bible school, and also former member of Penn Run Women’s Club.
She took pleasure in reading and her extensive porcelain doll collection. Rose was an exceptional cook and teacher and passed on many of her skills to beloved family members. She had an extensive love for her family and was always a great supporter.
Friends will be received from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Hope Springs Church, 2305 Philadelphia Ave., Northern Cambria, where a funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Fred Catchpole officiating. Interment will be held privately at McDowell Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hope Springs Church, 2305 Philadelphia Ave., Northern Cambria or Missions Around the World, P.O. Box 24, Alverda, Pa 15710.
