MARTIN - Thomas M., 79, Northern Cambria, died Feb. 28, 2004, at Miners Medical Center, Hastings. Born Oct. 6, 1924, in Clymer, son of Rockford and Gertrude (Dixon) Martin. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Clarence; and sister, Elaine Hibbard. Survived by wife of 48 years, former Anna Katana; children, John J., married to Phyllis (Hambley), Hastings; and Thomas P., Northern Cambria; and grandchildren, Mark, Heather and Johnathon Martin, Hastings; and Dylan Krug, Colver. Also survived by sister, Betty, married to Ed Burba, Trenton, Mich. U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Member of Barnesboro American Legion and VFW; Hastings Moose; Braggers Club; 1419 Carpenters Union; and Lodge 93, GCU. Avid bowler for years. Retired from Greensteel Inc., Dixonville, in 1986. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Long-Contres Funeral Home Inc., Northern Cambria, where Panachida and blessing of the casket will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. A service in the funeral home will be held at 12:30 p.m. and Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church. Fr. Oliver Hebert,T.O.R. Committal at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Cemetery, where military graveside rites will be held by local veterans organizations.
