Meckley, Timothy O. 70, Cherry Tree, died at his home in Cherry Tree on Nov 25, 2015. Born June 25, 1945 in Loraine, Ohio, son of Marinthia (Kitchen) and Donald Meckley. Preceded in death by parents, brother, Patrick Meckley, parents-in-law, Paul and Mildred Richards and grandson, Paul Felton. Survived by his wife, Carol Jean (Richards) Meckley; daughters and sons-in-law: Carol L. and Nicholas Brink, Cynthia and Kendall Gardner, Melinda and Brian Kelly and Laura and Drax Felton; and eleven grandchildren, and brothers, Donald H. and Robin Meckley. He is a 1963 graduate of Harmony Area High School. He served two years active duty in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Tim attended Mechanic School in Tyrone. He worked at Lacue’s Chevrolet Buick in Patton. While working as a mechanic at Indiana County Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, he was a union member and served as the vice president of the AFSCME Council 13. Tim later became mechanic supervisor and finally equipment manager, from which he retired in 1998. Tim was Past Master of Coalport Masonic Lodge #574. He was a member of the Barnesboro Legion Post 0508, Legion of Honor for Jaffa Shrine and a member of the Indiana County Shrine. Tim was a member of the Cherry Tree Borough council and later served as tax collector. He was a volunteer tax aid for AARP in Indiana and Cambria counties. In 2014 he received the “Senior Hall of Fame” award from Aging Services, Inc. Tim was very active in the Cherry Tree Presbyterian Church. He served as an Elder, Clerk of Session, and chairman of Building and Grounds. Friends will be received Saturday, November 28 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Long-Contres Funeral Home in Cherry Tree. The Coalport Lodge #574 will conduct Masonic Services at 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the Cherry Tree Presbyterian Church at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 29 with the Reverend Daniel Little officiating. Internment at Citizens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Aging Services, Inc. at 1005 Oak St, Indiana, PA 15701 or the Cherry Tree Presbyterian Church at 121 Front St Cherry Tree, PA 15724 in memory of Tim. Military graveside rites by local veterans organizations.
