Vernon B. Laney, Sr.

                Vernon B. Laney, Sr., 86 of Patton passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at UPMC Altoona.             

               He was born May 6, 1936, in Barnesboro, a son to the late Grant and Cecilia (Long) Laney. He was married to Bonnie Keith. She preceded him in death on October 20, 2010, also preceded by, baby daughter, Mary, brother, Frank Laney and sister, Grace Felton.

               Surviving are children, Christine (John) Slater, Renee (Tim) Huey, and Vernon (Faye) Laney, Jr.; eight grandchildren, Jonathan Slater, Natasha Slater, TJ Huey, Shannon Huey, Cory Kline, Kayla (Matt) Frew, Alyssa Laney, and Lyndsey Laney; five great grandchildren, Maverick Huey, Trevor Huey, Abigail Morgan, Wyatt Frew, and Jackson Frew; three sisters, Hazel Lute, Viola Keith, and Edna Keith.

               Vernon was a truck driver for over 30 years. He was a member of the Goodridge Church of God.

               He enjoyed watching Fox News and C-Span, listening to hymn-sings and going to bluegrass festivals. He loved history and numbers and had a heart of gold.

               Friends will be received Monday, August 8, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Barrett Funeral Home, 822 Philadelphia Ave., Northern Cambria. Where a funeral service will take place at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Steve Lecorchick officiating.  Interment will be made at McDowell Cemetery.
