Virginia M. Abrams, 96 years young, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.
She was born June 25, 1923 in Thompsontown, a daughter of the late Henry and Anne (Bennett) Hilliard. She married Joe Abrams, he preceded her in death on January 24 ,1976.
Surviving are six children, Charmayne (John) Patrick, Barry (Barb) Abrams, Gary Abrams,( Alicia ), Greg Abrams, Kenny (Lyn) Abrams, and Jolene (Dan) Davis; she was affectionately known as mam-mam by 15 grandchildren, Brian, Chris and Jennifer Patrick, Marsha, Lisa, Michael, Gary Jr., Daniel, Amanda, and Ashley Abrams, Dane, Mitchell, Derric and Brianna Davis; 15 great grandchildren, a sister in law, Lottie Abrams, Niceses, Nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Joseph Abrams; a grandson, Joel Abrams, two brothers, Lesile and Leonard Hilliard; three sisters, Ruby (Hilliard) Tuttle, Fran (Hilliard) Knarr, and Lois (Hilliard) Buck.
Virginia graduated from Barnesboro High School in 1942. She worked for over 30 years at Paul’s Shoe Store and taught Sunday school at First Baptist Church, Barnesboro.
She loved spending time with her family, she lived a full and wonderful life, she was a kind and loving lady who was beautiful inside and out. She enjoyed casino trips and going to all kinds of activities, including concerts and plays. Virginia ( Ginger)will be sadly missed by her loving family and friends and will never be forgotten. She was the true meaning of a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. We are so thankful for having her for this many years. God bless you, you were the love of our lives.
Friends will be received, Tuesday, March 3, 2020 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Barrett Funeral Home, 822 Philadelphia Ave., Northern Cambria, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday March 4, 2020 with Jim Whited officiating. Interment will be made at North Barnesboro Cemetery.
