Virginia D (Davis) Thorpe

Thorpe, Virginia D. (Ginny) passed away at home in Continental Courts, Bellefonte, Pa on June 1, 2015. She was the daughter of Newton and Elizabeth (Gardner) Davis of Altoona, Pa. She is survived by her husband, Lowell T. Thorpe; son Dr. Michael Johnston (Irene); daughters; Sharon Appel (Victor), Leslie Rowe (Scott), Sandra Lynn (Greg), and stepdaughter, Rebecca Larosa (John). Ginny had nine grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Ginny is also survived by her sister, Louise Smeigh (late Harold); brothers Newton Davis (late Ida), Greg Davis (MaryJane), Richard Davis (Marty), sister-in-law Helen Davis (late Robert), and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Robert Davis, step-granddaughter, Christina Larosa and ex-husband Jerry Johnston. Ginny loved God and others. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 216 North McAllister Street, Bellefonte, Pa 16823. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's or to Centre Homecare & Hospice. At the request of the family, guests are invited to wear colorful attire reflecting Ginny's colorful and joyful personality. Arrangements are in the care of Long-Contres Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria.
