Wilbert F. "Wib" Rice

Rice, Wilbert F. "Wib", 81 of Northern Cambria, died December 28, 2004 at Altoona Hospital. Born August 15, 1923, in Greenwich, son of Charles Franklin and Leta Mae (Keith) Rice. Preceded in death by parents, wife former Dolores "Toots" Stiles in 1998; sisters Edna Abramovich, and Genevieve Chernisky; and brothers Rhuel, Floyd and James Rice. Last surviving member of immediate family. Survived by children Bonnie married to Thomas Peel, Indiana; Michael Franklin married to Iris (Mulley), Somerset; Dennis Edward married to Phyllis (Rummell), Kathy Rice, and Lisa Rice, all of Northern Cambria. Also survived by 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. U.S. Marine Veteran of WWII. Retired from Bethlehem Steel. Member United Steelworkers. Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Long-Contres Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria, where funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Rev. Robert Kurka. Military rites will be conducted by local veterans' organizations. Interment McDowell Cemetery.
